The database contains data concerning the papal delegates’ biographies, studies, ecclesiastical careers and assignments which are handled as chains of events. These data can be displayed online and downloaded in form of a data sheet and a complete study as well. Although the database focuses on medieval Hungary, it includes the relevant representatives‘ whole biographies, including their other delegations as well. During the development of the database we tried to prioritize its usability, not only for specialists, but for the large public as well. Thus, the database is – hopefully – not only a collection of “bare facts“ but a multidisciplinary and multifunctional presentation of the delegating supreme pontiff and the delegated representatives of the Catholic Church.
A complex search function helps to realize this aim. It enables chronological and functional (i.e. appointer, type of authorizations, political-geographical dimensions) queries which makes the collected information even more informative. The use of the database is supported by a help function which is available in the right up corner. The registration is free, yet, it is required to use the database.
